Fair price for M400 to sell

I've been working steadily towards working for myself for some time now and had the Noble up for sale to fund the project when I finally make the jump. I wasn't too bothered if it didn't sell quickly and wanted to enjoy her for as long as possible but it's now getting near to the stage where I'm going to have to jump.
Originally I thought just a tad under 40k would be a fair price for an 05my with 15k (see classifieds) - recently lowered the price to a shade under 37k.


Is this a fair price do you think? And, where else should I advertise?

I think that's a steal for your car, it's been bl00dy well looked after, and in one of the two most sought after colours. It might be wise to hang on 'till spring though, as that's when, traditionally, there are more punters looking for cars.

I don't think you are to far off the mark with that price, i looked at your ad and a couple of others before i bought my Noble. My budget was around the 35k mark and i think the last silver M400 05 to sell was sold on here for prob around that mark....

I noticed that Mole Valley have recently dropped the prices of all of their Noble's by about 2k as they seem to be sticking. As a recent buyer (and seller of my Porsche Boxster of which there are prob 3 million for sale!!) i get the feeling that people are taking the piss and expecting huge sums off as everybody is desperate to sell apparantly!! Also, i think alot of new buyers into Nobles are nervous about back up and thats what made me buy from a dealer (Kerridges) who offered me the peace of mind with a warranty and a phone number for advice. Maybe an option is to do a sale or return with a Noble dealer and build in to the price a warranty from the dealer. It might make buyers more easy about parting from their cash. It made me do and i spent more than my budget on a 3r!! Not looked back. BTW i have found Kerridges to be VERY good and even picked the car up when i had my one and only problem, all the way from Needham to Bournemouth and back!

hi carl.i never thought id see a noble fall under the 20k mark but seen a few private sales circa 18k also a trader has just taken a 2002 18k hpi clear m12 for less than 15k.horrid colour though.very few buyers out there at the mo i feel and i dont really think waiting till the spring is going to make much difference either.might be worth putting it for sale on the mitsi lancer register and passion ford .hope it sells soon for you

Mate, conti GTs are hitting 40k these days. Quite fancy one now the footballers think they are old hat!

Car market is on its arse, so the m400 is at the right price when it sells. If you are asking as much as dealers it won't shift. Not that I've checked dealer prices but seems to be whats implied above?

Dan, I had similar thoughts until a mate told me that it was an engine out job for almost anything on it and that would cost £000s

Had the car up at Redline Racing, seats are in, Roll cage, corner weighting and Geo done.

They have set it up as aggressive road, will get used to it and take it back and have more camber put in and have it lowered a little.

It is fantastic.

Road holding is brilliant, and the stuff you can do wit the suspension is fantastic, I will be trying every setting.

Next tyres WILL be the Cups, now I understand the car better, it makes perfect sense.

Prob going to get new manifolds etc, looking at going up to 600 eventually.

This one is a 3 year keeper, then I want a non turbo.

Glad you are enjoying it. Be careful tuning as lots of chancers out their with fanciful claims in Porsche land. Its one thing making 600bhp for 10 secs on a dyno, another repeating it for a couple of laps as you well know!

It's probably like V12 Ferrari's. They usually hold together fine, but every so often parts that once went up and down try to move sideways, and the bill effectively writes the car off.

Carl, I think this is the very worst time of year to be selling a Noble, over the last 4 years I have watched sales, spring and early summer they fly out the door, winter they take far longer to sell.
Plus with the current market it looks like to sell (any) car you need to price it (quite a bit) lower than you know it is worth if you want a quick sale.
Ash did this with his, went for peanuts IMO considering what was done(spent) to it. (IIRC around £35K) But it did sell very quickly at that price.

I agree Alex - though I would like to start my business this side of Christmas and this would mean I don't have to borrow so soon.

Lots of good buys at the end of the year. I bought my previous 3R in October. She's on Autotrader now (cheapest M400) and always open to sensible offers of course....

Hey Carl,

To be totally honest with you, the first time i had seen and heard of a Noble was when a friend of mine took me up to one of the dealers as i was looking into buying a TVR at the time. I wasn't sure what car i wanted, i just knew i did not want something mass produced.

I was so blown away with the Noble back then (still am), i made my mind up to purchase one almost straight away on the spot. Had it not of been for my mate, i wouldn't be posting on PH. I also knew nothing about PH before i picked up the car.

My advise, would be to advertise it in places other than PH, im guessing the limited number of hardcore petrol heads are already members of PH and know about Nobles. Perhaps putting an ad for your car in autotrader under the BMW or Porsche section may spark some intrest in people who wouldn't normally be looking for a Noble?
