Thanks to Dymag

Well, finally got my P&J back after a lengthy period off the road to improve gearbox etc and to fit a new set of rims that were a) round b)light and c) won't crack around the cental hub.
Got a good deal from Dymag for their very tasty carbon mags with a promise that I would have them in 2 weeks. True to promise they arrived as expected.
They were then taken to a reputable performance tyre shop to have the corsas put on, but when they came to the final wheel - there was only a 10inch rim left
Spoke to Mike at Dymag but by this time all the boys from their workshop had gone home. My only option was to drive home in a clown car with 3 carbon mags and an OEM wheel on.
Mike phoned me again first thing this morning and said they would send someone over from Chippenham, collect the wheels sort them out and return a full set to me or the tyre shop by Friday, but first the Tyre shop should check the wheels again. They were quite miffed at having to do this, but you guessed it, they had put the 285 rear rubber on the 8.5inch front wheel! So here ends the Comedy of Errors as the situation was easily rectified - but a huge thank you to the lads and lasses at Dymag for being prepared to go the extra mile (well, 588 miles to be precise)to sort out an issue (or non-issue as it transpired) with their product. It's when things go wrong (or appear to have gone wrong)that you get a true measure of a company. As for the tyre people, they were so mortified and embarrassed by their mistake that harsh words were not even necessary.
Anyway here it is.....

Dymag are really good to deal with, they supplied my mag carbons last year and changed the spoke colour at the eleventh hour.

Wot, you mean like engine, gearbox and diff??
It was a lot lighter, but not quite as fast.
All back together again and after a few teething problems with coolant and oil leaks it's now sorted (touch wood). To be fair, NL and Skip have bent over backwards to get it all tickity boo.

Normal List price for CarbonMg is

Front @ 1135 + VAT (each)

Rear @ 1165 + VAT (each)

Which is an eye-watering £5405 all in.

BUT

For orders received and shipped before Christmas (as this is a fairly quiet period) you can get the same deal as me which was £3995 (inc VAT) for the set.

Ouch, but the car looks superb! Whats the weight reduction like compaired to standard?

The weight saving (unsprung) versus OEMs is a massive 22kg (see other thread)

This equates to between 108 to 120kg sprung weight. This has a positive effect on ride and handling. The rims are carbon fibre and so rotational inertia is also massively reduced - this positively effects steering, braking and performance. One of the Porsche teams that use them reckon it's the equivalent of adding another 40bhp without touching the engine! I can't comment on this at the mo.
If you just cruise up and down your local high street then you're not really going to feel any benefit from these wheels, but if you use the car as intended - then you will.

Suppose it could be on the intrax/oakley design cup car. Will they do them in Porsche GT3 sizes for that as well?

Dan - both the Fabryce GTM Porsche team and Parr Porsche UK used them; the latter are GT3RSs. Ask nicely and we'll get you the Noble discount

Pretty sure Parr don't run them on any of their cars, although one of their customers does on his time attack car? He was one of the earliest users so his have been through a few iterations.

Can't find Fabryce GTM on google strangely?

I'm dreaming about getting a set. Still paying for those dampers!
