FWIW, the write-up is somewhat misleading since the U.S. requirement does not include monitoring tire (tyre) temp.

It was on the Gadget show the other night. Sensor is a replacement valve/valve cap. Best rebalance the wheels after fitting was my first thought.

If the sensor is the Hamlin one it goes in instead of the valve, all works by radio batteries last about 5 years, all developed to meet the Firestone law in the states, never implemented over here.

I can see why something like this might be useful for road cars where people don't check their tyres for weeks on end, but can't really see it's of much value for the track. We check tyre temps/pressures at the track every time we go out / come in and adjust them accordingly, so unless you want to monitor whether you have a slow puncture (but you'd be able to tell that by the handling of the car anyway) I can't see the value. To me, tyre temperatures are more important to monitor with the pressures being adjusted to get the tyres working properly with even temperatures across the tyre width.

Nice gadget though if you're a gadget person.

I bought some shares in these guys some years ago and made a few quid. Even though they haven't progressed as quickly as first thought I think they produce the best technology for TPMS
