Spanners and sockets are what you need for that job.....

Along with flexible arms, safety specs and some kevlar gloves, I got quite a bit of dirt in my eyes, lost some blood too, was not fun.

Try replacing all the wiring to the alternator, with NO trolley jack, some bits of wood,a paving slab, some speaker wire, a minimal tool kit, sourcing replacement alternator plug from a austrian volvo dealer, with the car in a hotel car park in austria!!

We got it done though.
