Hi folks,
Tried the search function but didn't see anything obvious.
When should the timing chain be replaced? On my Scooby i think it was every 3 years or 36k miles. What is it for the Noble?
I've got an 03 3r with 18k miles and its due a service - just want to make sure if the chain needs replaced as well.
Let me know
Cheers
Kenny

You are probably thinking of recommended maintenance for the timing belts used on lots of car. Those belts are made from re-enforced rubber that degrades over time. In contrast, a timing chain should be virtually indestructible and should not need to be replaced for the life of the motor (unless it somehow gets stretched and starts to affect valve timing). Of course, if the motor is being re-built after many service miles it would be a good idea to replace the chain at the same time.
