Or it's banged the driveshaft into the gearbox etc etc. That's why they're written off so easily these days. You can get horribly unstuck if you don't / can't spot these things.

. I remember seeing a MK1 Fiesta in a scrap yard that had a scaffold pole welded across the rear to hold the wheels in the right place
