I spoke to xtrac ages ago, and IIRC, virtually all the sequential kits for our gearbox casings are designed for BTCC type cars, and they develop nowhere near as much torque. They were of the opinion our engines would eat them for breakfast.

I'm aware of a couple of sequential change conversion kits which use all the standard g/box and just convert the change mechanism, not had time to get one in yet to try, but I will be doing next year.

I've spoken to a few people about these, none of them expect the clutch to last long.

Any reason why? The clutch is used as normal.

Didnt ask, might just be my car,I know one of the OEM's who make these kits, he was pretty sure it would brake the clutch, his is solonoid based. Oakly design do a really nice kit for 997 gt3, I spoke to him about adapting one but havnt got round to looking at it seriously.

I think the shock when they release the clutch is quiet hard, maybe i'll pester a few people a Autosport and see if they've moved on.

I don't know if it's best to go Electric or air, don't know which is more reliable, also not sure if there is a benefit on the road?

The one in my link just gets rid of the H gate. Still have to use the clutch. In reality time saving is small, but it does prevent missed gears.

Nope, none of those, these are aftermarket dedicated bolt on change mechanisms that tie in with the strandard B/box.
They just eliminate the H pattern, clutch still required.

If dog engagement gears are necessary to take the torque we will/may put through them, we've already got the option to have them custom made, depends how mental we decide to go with it? Obviously of we go dog engagement, we'll go the whole hog and have straight cut gears too.

If a suitable sequential box can be used in one of these babys,so far the torque seems to be the limiting factor at the mo but in the states they seem more freely capable to handle the torque that these cars develop,I quote from a racebox tech guy who builds sequential boxs ex Lotus chappie ,have sent various emails to Quaife Hewland and Xtrac any one with any other bright ideas whom to try, come on Adrian yee font of all knowledgeteacher

Your limiting factor in terms of off the shelf solutions is the transverse layout, and the competition history of this engine.

BTCC and similar is N/A only, so no silly torque figures. When i spoke with xtrac, they also reminded me that BTCC regs allow the engine to be canted over for COG reasons, so the gearbox casing would have needed major mods. IIRC, i was Quaife who said it could be done, but £15K minimum.
