Happy New Year to you all,
Well its MOT time for the Noble and I like to go over it myself before taking it in and the handbrake has always been shoddy and I know its going to fail as ive done the cable but its still V.poor, so planning on stripping it down this week and fixing it (hopefully)once and for all. So my question to you guys is:- 1/ Where can I get new brake shoes from and what car are they from ie are they Noble only? and 2/ Ive heard a few of you complain of a poor handbrake already so what was at fault please? Answers on a postcard please. Cheers - Gaz.

Taken from the wiki on here,

D_G reports - My handbrake has always been pretty bad and after trying a quick adjustment which didn't feel right took the disc off and found one of the shoe linings laying in the bottom of the drum. I've also had an intermittent scraping noise from that side recently which now adds up. Looks like a previous service dealer has got a bit overexcited with the adjustment as the other side is still OK.
Ordered some new shoes from the factory today but would recommend anyone with a dodgy handbrake to have the shoes looked at and not just adjusted through the discs.

Hi Gaz,

How much did they cost in the end, I got mine just before the factory stopped supplying parts and think they were about £60 delivered.
Not sure if you know but there is a cable adjustment behind a panel behind the passenger seat. You need to back that right off before fitting the shoes and adjusting them inside the drum. Once the shoes are adjusted, adjust the cable up and job done. Mines been spot on since.

Cheers

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the info I adjusted the cable and piston inside disc but to no avail, so I stripped the whole thing down to find very little meat left on the shoes and a lot of dust! God knows who has been messing about with it in the past. So called AP to be fobbed off saying I needed to call NOBLE, of course they are not interested anymore so called CN and they charged me for a bloomin caliper or disc i think.............£175 they should be wearing stripey jumpers and a face mask to go with their swag bag! rant over lol

IIRC, they only sell the shoes by the pair, so that price is for two.
