I know....it's been done a thousand times but......
When my car was serviced in Jan 07 (before I owned it), the service book states that the fuel pump and loom was upgraded to M400 spec.
Having read a few of the threads regarding this, I understand that the upgrade was to replace the fuel pump with the Bosch 580254044 and to replace the wiring loom and add a relay somewhere (where?).
I am currently sorting out the fuel line "filing through the sump" problem and have removed the fuel pump from the car. The part No stamped on the body of the pump is 580254979. I'm assuming this is not the M400 pump. Is this the original? How can I tell if the loom upgrade has been done?
The work on the car for this service was done by a company well known on the forum and who have been slated here by some. I won't mention any names but I am now wondering whether any of the work they say has been done actually has been.

The 044 Bosch can support upwards of 600BHP and was an upgrade for M400's
a few GTO owners took advantage of the fact that there were some M400 spec pumps floating around due to these upgrades and had the M400 pump fitted in place of their original (lower spec) pump.

The relay will be inside the rear nearside wheel arch closest to the passenger.
You need to remove the wheel arch cover.
A bit of a faff but no problem.

I can tell you that the pump was sourced from Noblemods (by me) and was an M400 pump. The pump came with a wiring harness kit, but the garage fitting it chose to upgrade the wiring to a higher spec as they felt it was still a bit on the 'thin' side - in their opinion.
The Motorsport pump (Bosch 4044) was deemed unnecessary as the output of the M400 pump was more than capable (425bhp) for an uprated 2.5 and didn't buzz like a wasps nest.
