Front disc brakes

I have had some trouble with my front discs. As you can see i,ve looked into the cause,(thinking it was bushes)but it would appear to be worped discs. I see looking through history of this car they have been replaced before under warrenty. Is this common?I know is a track/road car but just interested. I now have to buy some front discs any ideas for the best price, the car 2004 3R many thanks-Paul

Warped. Unlikely. Do a search for the "myth of warped discs". More usually its due to build up of pad material on the disc surface. its that uneven surface that produces the vibration. Cleaning the discs with some vigorous braking maneovures is all you need. Also make sure its not your front stub axles getting loose.

Paul is correct - brake dust build up is a common source of vibration, and it is the first simple avenue to explore. Clear the vent holes in the disc using special tool (piece of wire coat hanger, clean up the discs and then do about half doz 80-30 stops (with discs warmed up obviously). If this doesn't fix the problem, then it is likely that the discs are warped. The most common reason for this is excessive run-out on the front hubs - so unless this is sorted, simply putting new discs on is not going to help -the new discs will end up with high spots too and start vibrating under braking over time. Checking run-out is a simple procedure for any competent garage. If this is corrected (new hubs) and there is plenty of meat on your discs you have the option of getting them skimmed, although if its a 2004 car that may be a bit of a false economy.

If you want the grovved discs rather than the drilled ( which are more prone to cracking) the best price I got was from Questmead. ( search on Nobleparts and you will find model numbers and contact info.)
