Gear linkage ??

How does it work ?? the shift change has improved a lot in the last 24 hours but it all feels very ....non lubricated !! if you know what i mean !! when you wiggle the stick you can hear it squeeking !! and there any lube points and how do you get access to the system ?? once again thenks for any help .simon
