Thatcham approved?

Just re newed the insurance on the Noble with Adrian Flux. It is a policy condition that it has a Thatcham approved immobiliser. I told them it is a factory fitted alarm / immobiliser and assumed it was Thatcham approved. However, they have told me its not and to have an approved one fitted. Is this news to any of you? I can't believe a 50 grand car didn't come with one.

Im sure i remember a letter going round that it was ok. Best call the factory and they might be able to send something out.

The factory fitted system is Thatcham approved.

Mandy at factory reception will give you all the details.

Whilst Noble isn't in the list of manufacturers the R160Li which I think is the one fitted to most cars is shown as being Cat1 aftermarket.

This is all very helpful info, thanks. Do you have the factory phone number? and what information do you think I will need for the phone call? Chassis number etc?

Have a look at the service book and owners manual it should say in there what alarm is fitted, link that with the Thatcham list and Roberts your mothers brother

Deffo thatcham 1. The main reason for Thatcham is that if you don't turn the alarm on and walk away it will turn on its self (not lock doors though).

That'll be why i can't hoover/clean the car out without the alarm going off every 2-3 minutes.

The alarm is not passively armed, only the immobiliser.

It sounds like Adrian Flux simply doesn't have the info on their database.

Ive had this before with another car were I had a Thatcham 1 alarm on it that was 5 years old and no longer on the thatcham list... basically just because it was once Thatcham approved does not mean it will alwyas be thatcham approved or something.
I had to fit a new approved imobaliser... pain in the arse as it meant even more things on the key ring and extra cost of cause.

Surelly this is not going to happen to the Nobles alarm?... thinking back it may have been Adrian flux as well
Have you tried other insurance agencies? Im with MSN and they are really good!

I must admit I can't remember if it does on the Noble but My old clifford Thatcham 1 alarm did. The imobiliser arming is Thatcham 2 approved.

Hollow, when you turn the alram off open the door and then turn the alram on, then staight away hold down the arming button until you here a chirp, this dissarms the sensors inside.
