How to reduced Exhaust noise level from 98db to 96db please

Anyone any ideas how to reduced Exhaust noise level from 98db to 96db please
with minimal work and pref low cost just for track days?

( If anyone picks up on the fact that I was the one that fitted the variable exhaust valve which still sounds great, the above question takes into account the fact that I can already quickly return the exhaust to standard)

2db is quite a lot of noise to lose, perhaps stuffing your rear sections with fibreglass matting?

Dont forget that induction roar contributes to noise levels as well.

If your track uses a sound meter in a fixed location, you can build a set of exhaust tips that point away from the sound meter. Might not look very pretty, but should reduce the sound levels a bit...

Good thinking thanks, but this is a static fixed distance test.

What exhaust do you have? For the Roush zorst, Pipex do a set of silenced tail-pipes which make the car more track friendly. Used on Chillidogs race-car.

I used a pair of Sound Traps from Demon Tweeks. Got me down to well below Bedford's limit.

I have the Roush exhaust with said tailpipes. Static reading usually comes in somewhere between 96 - 98db's on my car. FYI, i still have the cats in place too

I've got a set as well, but haven't fitted them yet. Are you OK at Donny on the drive-by under full throttle? My exhaust (Roush with cats)used to be OK, but I have been getting black flagged recently (for noise).

Dear Gadge,
Sorry no pics. I didn't fit them but they were apparently a bu**er to adjust. Basically you adjust the volume by tightening the discs and the amount of wire wool stuffing. Not sure about the total power but they did make the car more laggy, presumably as the turbos took longer to spool up. They were probably too quiet as it passed the drive by with ease. Mind you I was still flying past everything else including the superlight caterhams.

crikey thats an achievement - one of my customers has the R400 its so stupidly fast !

Praise goes to John Noble Motorsports who fettled my engine. Even with the Trapps in place when the thing came on boost it was like warp drive.

Sorry Rob, I haven't done a track day at Donny yet (crimminal i know) so can't give you an answer there. Although, I have heard a Roush exhaust with the noisier tips before, the difference in the loudness was defo noticable. Id be pretty confident that you'd have no problems running the quieter tips at Donny. I do most of my track days at Castle Combe, who are also strict when it comes to the noise levels...i have never been called off track.
