Forge BOVs - first client

Hi all,
I recently ordered and have just received a new BOV from Forge but before fitting I thought I would check that the main body would fit the hose. It does not. I opted for this route as somebody else commmented that their BOV main body measured 60mm external diameter, the hose 65mm internal diameter?
I rang Forge this afternoon to explain and they, John, is quite puzzled as to why they are sending out kits with the incorrect dimensions when so many people have ordered in the past and it has not been a problem.
So, does anybody know who first approached Forge and whether or not they are likely to have the original dimensions?; Does anybody, who has ordered a Forge BOV, have a hose that would fit a 60mm BOV body or are all hoses 65mm?; Or is it possibly a recent typo?
I promised John, at Forge, I would post this so I we can clarify.

Mine is a Forge and it fitted fine. I had the first week of owning the car, so about 2.5 years ago now.
But, if it's 60mm external on the valve and 65mm internal on the hose, surely that's fine ? I mean, it's only a couple of millimetres and you just put two jubilee clips on and tighten them up. Am I missing something here ?

Yes. It's a non collapsible, semi rigid, flexible hose meaning that 5mm is a lot of girth to try and accommodate in a pressurised (under load) hose. Therefore, whatever you wish to place in series must at least bridge the gap or beyond to create a good seal.

Mmm i had this problem,the t piece sent was too small for the pipe but spoke to john and he very kindly sent correct size out FOC, very snug fit! not sure on exact sizes as mine is at chris neils in cheshire and my ecu is at the factory being re-mapped 
It was because of your thread that I measured up before cutting! Ta. John is sending me a 68mm also but is concerned as to why the size seems to be wrong all of a sudden. Thanks for all the really helpful replies by the way peeps.

Hi Simon,I had my doubts initially, especially as my car has nearly 50k on the clock, but the benefits, that I have been led to believe by people far more knowledgeable than I, outweigh not fitting one. Those benefits include faster gear changes but above all the fact that your turbos will no longer need to spool up and down i.e. they keep spinning when you come off throttle ergo prolonging their life by not putting unnecessary strain on the bearings. I believe there are many persons on here that have the said BOV fitted and in initial investigations into Noble upgrades/must have's this apparently is a 'No brainer'.
I was hoping that some of the more knowledgeable would have commenteed on this thread so that I can relay any pertinent information to John at Forge as he is genuinely concerned why they are distributing the wrong size T piece to us.

Hi Simon , ok make sense now , so they work like a pressure relief valve on the inlet side ?? i take it you fit them in the hose from the intercooler to the throttle body then .and this is the one you need the exact dia off ?? have you got a link to the website were you bought it from ??
in my early days of turbo,d cars they were their just for the noise.the 1st one i got i built myself for a saab turbo.ive always but one on every car that had a turbo because it prolongs the life of the impellor and seals by taking the pressure away from them.so i would asume if you are taking pressure away you are also losing power between gear changes.i took the bov off my escos track car for this reason and did see a big difference,only problem was as said above the turbo itself lead a shorter life .it made a lovely flutter sort of noise instead of the wooosh of the bov.the flutter noise is what the noble has .if you dont want either noise then fit a recirculating bov which directs the air back in the system as on the evo,s ive owned.imo if you want faster gear changes leave it as it is or if you want a slightly slower car but prolonged turbo life put the bov on.if you want 75%of both look to install a recirc bov.if my memory serves me well i think adrian on here has had a recirc made for his car?
When you shut the throttle a pressure wave is created, which at higher boost pressures can damage the compressor wheel and try to stall the turbo, the obvious benefit of the dump valve is that the turbo does not stop spinning and therefore helps to eliminate turbo lag. There are both quiet both noisy types available, if you run fairly hight boost the noisy ones get annoying once the novelty of scaring old ladies and small children has worn off.
