fitting new accelerator cable

anyone know how difficult fitting a new cable is ???

Have had mine replaced by dealer in year one, due to early meltdown design issue, so can't say but make sure it routes along the offside of the engine and not centrally (ie: over the forward turbo as this was the issue).

It's not too bad of a job - I've installed new throttle cables on several cars. You will need access to the bottom of the car, so you can cut the zip-ties that hold the old cable in place, and fish the new cable through the tunnel. Not bad at all if you have the car up on a lift - theoretically possible if you have the car up on jackstands, but I've never had to try this. The underdash part and the part back in the engine compartment are both fairly easy to reach and route.

Some hints:
-- Make sure to thoroughly insulate the part of the throttle cable that runs out of the rear of the tunnel up to the throttle body, and route it as far away from the front turbo and downpipe as possible.

-- Try to keep all bends as wide as possible, so the throttle works smoothly.

-- When you fish the cable through the tunnel, be sure to clear the parking brake and shifter mechanisms, and try not to wrap it around anything in there.
