Looking for some replacement speakers - will replace the head unit in due course but don't really want to add a separate amp or anything else so needs to be compatible. Don't mind cutting the door card for the additional tweeters as there is plently of space.
What has anyone else done and what are the recommendations?

I have fitted a pair of JL speakers and they sound fantastic! No cutting needed as they are a direct swap. I was worried about not having much bass in the car but i removed the black rubber/foam from behind the speaker and it gives a really good sound. I have a set of four infinity speakers in my RX7 and they dont even come close to the JL speakers.

i just put some infinity reference 2 ways in to replace the sony speakers from halfords. if your after bass you need to add an amplified sub. the bass on these infinity speakers is a bit better than the sony speakers but if you utalise it at full volume you will just blow them. as a direct replacement (no tweeters to deal with) for £75 they were well worth it.
if the search is for bass then you need to do some work. you can now get amplified 10 inch subwoofers that are about the size of a sheet of A4 and only about 5 inches thick. they are designed to screw to the back of the seats although i dont fancy screwing anything through the noble seats. they are tiny though and will certainly fit somewhere. i was about to order a set of 2 just before my manifolds started to fall apart - then rediverted funds lol.
and for all of you that are marking me down as a boy racer hooligan - i am. my last car was a honda civic type R with two amps and 2 12 inch subs in the boot - so there lol.
the engine sound is great but as a daily driver the novalty wears off

)What's the recommendation on headunits - only really need 2 channel output but would be great to use a screen and definitely want iPod connectivity. Would prefer not to need a separate amp.

That's not all that has changed!!! (I should have left the newer MD head unit in - then again who uses MD these days!) - I do miss my old car and I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed it so much. All I seem to do these days is polish the current car (last track day cost me aprox. 3k after bending two wheels - I replaced all 4) I used to think the Noble was expensive to run....

MD? Yeah I've just binned all my old MD stuff. (I should have left the newer MD head unit in - then again who uses MD these days!) - I do miss my old car and I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed it so much. I've still got some finishing off to do and it's still very much a work in progress but it's coming together nicely.
