Ball Joint Help Needed

We have got the lower arm off my car its sitting on the ramps in my mates workshop. We have pressed out the lower front ball joint with no problems I have a new ball joint supplied by Kerridges part number TC170 - MOA1-03-2170-I but this replacement part measures exactly 50mm in diameter and the old one measures 49mm in diameter so the new one doesn't fit in the hole????

Has anyone else come across this problem ???

My mate needs his ramp back and my stupid 3 wheeled Noble is on it.

Yeh I know its the part according to WIKI, Kerridges & Noble. Just came across this post on Noble Forum:

Both me an my mechanic didn't fancy 'shaving a bit off' by hand as it wasn't going to be an exact fit and if it ends up being loose in the arm I may as well have left the old ball joint in. It is a bit worrying seeing some of the workmanship that has come out of Noble dealers in the past how they manage to fit these.

Go to a good motor factors they will have a parts book for suspension/steering joints with all dimensions for a comparison

I just took the ball joint to an engineering company 'www.classic-components.co.uk' they put the ball joint on their lathe and made it the right size. So if anyone else is replacing their lower ball joints i can suggest that you don't buy the part from a Noble dealer - get one from any motor factors for half the price (£20) then spend £5 on getting the outer lip machined to 49mm. At least this way you will end up with a part that will fit your car and your mate won't get pissed off with it sitting on his ramp for days.

Well done on the solution, but it must be possible to identify the correct part that requires no modification. Unless of course, Noble modified the standard part to fit...

I have the part that Noble are listing as correct however it is different to the one we removed so maybe Noble know what the original one is but its a secret ?
