max power on standard turbos?

Just been quoted £4100 by noble specialist to fit bigger turbos and alter cam timing on a 3r, already have bigger intercooler, rouch exhaust, etc. told this will give app. 475 hp, but i have heard of 3r's making this on standard turbo's but with other mods. Alter the cam timing? That'll be JNM you're talking to then. They really must let on how they do that one day. I'd love to know.

Fook thas gone up boi mine didn't cost that much for two turbo's,and cam timing ,I thought the country was in negative inflation,I do have a surplus JNM intercooler now though gathering dust.

i believe about 425bhp is avalable on T25 with stock injectors , so i would have thought 4grand would get you more than 475 bhp !!! sounds pretty expensive ,don.t know about the cam timing but i,ve been quoted about £500 per turbo to ugrade to T28 + a aset of injectors £400 + remapp £695 + a pair of actuators £150 , should make 475bhp with no problem although i will need a new clutch and better box !!!

A 3R will NOT make those figures on OEM Turbo's injectors!
To make over 420(ish) BHP you'll need as a minimum, bigger injectors, bigger turbo's and a remap. (Based on your quoted current spec).
The 475 HP 'claim' also doesn't make a great deal of "sense", unless the Turbo's being recommended are "specials", then to specify a hybrid pair which will only do circa 25HP more than the OEM units is crazy? T28's will make WAY more power than 475!
I have 2 hybrid Turbos ready to drop onto my 3R that we're expecting to spool like T25's (OEM 3R units) but move as much air as T28's (OEM 400 units). They are rated at 550BHP.
OEM clutch will NOT handle that unless the torque is deliberately capped at around 420lb/ft.

I wondered about that too.
Maybe they are re-machining them and using adjustable cam sprockets, but I seriously doubt that would be cost efficient, if even possible.
Perhaps it's just bull?

Me too... This has been discussed before. They won't be machining the gears off the ends of the cams and fitting adjustable cam gears, so the only option is to jump a tooth.

IIRC, each tooth = 8.5 cam degrees, = 17 crank degrees.

Advice given to me by experienced Noble mappers on both sides of the Atlantic was to leave my M400 timing alone.

Hi Mike. The quote was to fit T28 turbo's. Im assuming they will cap the HP to 475 because the gearbox wont handle any more. Try Email [e-mail] Thanks.

It's not the horse power you need worry about so much as the torque produced.
This can be mapped around to a certain extent but if you want more it's a new box with modded internals.. shot peening, bearings etc. (or an old box with new internals).
