Quite correct that touch-ins on silvers (or any high-particulate paint) are much more limited in terms of cosmetic improvement. A sprayed repair is the only way to achieve fully even metallic flake laydown. Depending on the exact profile of the panel where the chip has happened, this may be possible without a full panel respray.I think you may be confusing two-pack with two-stage? Two pack paints are catalysed, two stage paint systems are clearcoat over basecoat. All modern paint finishes are (Two-pack!) lacquer over waterborne basecoat. The ChipsAway paint system is no different.

We do repairs where the damage is in the middle of silver door week in, week out. The blend zone is larger, but to an experienced repairer, they're completely achievable.
