Brake rebuild time

When i get back from france next week i want to fit new discs and pads on the front and new pads on the back ,had a price from Noble for all the bits !!! just wondered if you guys had any advice as to alternative pads and disc over std ones and where to get them from .intend on doing a few track days . (done a search could not find much) thanks Simon

Have a look on Nobleparts, for the front grooved discs and where to buy.

Thanks Alex , can you tell me what the advantage is of the grooved discs , don,t need to change the rears because they are like new ,also what are the ds2500 like compared to std ?? thanks Simon

Grooved discs are stronger( less likley to crack and cheaper to boot)

Might be worth giving Simon a call at the factory, as they are also doing the front grooved discs ( and when I spoke to him about the rear discs I think I remember th price being quite good)

I find the ds2500 a good comprimise between full-on track pads like the padgid and the standard pads, also they dont squeal when cold. Been using them for 4 years now always been happy, no fade ( including several track days)

How much are the front discs? I think mine are warped slightly, was thinking of a skim but if new ones are not toooooo expensine then ????

The warp might be runout on your hubs (common fault) so get them checked or you will be wasting your money on new discs to only warp them again !

Can I just ask. The run out on the hubs, is this something that can just happen or there from the beginning?

I am overseas at the moment but back on Tuesday and can dig out my recent invoice - I had grooved discs installed all round and Pagid RS on the front and replacement DS pads on the rear. IIRC the discs were around £160 each.

Deffo from the beginning Bondy,

I had this problem so fitted new discs, still the same problem so i had the hubs skimmed, Still the same problem so I fitted new hubs/stubs supplied from Noble and guess what, Still the same problem.

The machining on he noble Hubs is not good and this is what causes the problem. It appears when they turn down the hub to take the Noble chosen bearing they could not machine it straight.

I had my new grooved discs skimmed whilst on the car and its now superb.

I believe another fix is to change to the standard ford hub and bearing which has been discussed on here already with part no,s etc.

Just a note but I thought my problem was just the front but the backs were just as bad so if your gonna go this way get them all done.

Thanks for responses guys , i have no wobble on brakes infact they work very well its just pads are down to 5mm all round , will it create a problem if i have grooved disc on the front and std disc's on the back ??

just to be clear what is the fix as i get vibration on mine as well replace hubs and skim disks? what is the non ford repalcement part/s please

No problems at all ( well apart from visually )
