We were out in the Noble on Sunday and nearly fried with the heat in the cabin, the heater fan has stopped working. I can hear it switch over from re-circulating and outside feed and I can hear the aircon compresser cutting in, but no fan.
I have checked all the fuses and relays in the passenger footwell. Any ideas as to where should I start looking next?

Are you talking about the condenser fan(s)?

Or the fan in the heater box?

Noble 1978, did you paint your own brake calipers? and if so what paint did you use?

Okey dokey, here we go.

I found that we had power to the connector adjacent to the heater box under the front clam, that was after checking the relay and fuses in the passenger footwell.
i took the heater box apart, awkward.... but not too bad, you will need an assistant to undo nuts under the dash.
I found that one of the springs on the brushes of the motor had rusted through and so was not pulling the brush down to make contact.
So after hunting in my van I found the best thing to replace it was a spring off my allen keys, you knoe the sets that come on a ring, bit of adjustment and bingo, all works well.
Do check though for the old spring, mine had disappeared into the motor due to the magnetic fields.
It has now been working Ok for weeks.

If you are going to the trouble of removing the heater box then fitting a Mk5 IIRC escort heater fan would be a good upgrade, the fan motor is better quality and it has a proper resitor pack rather than the sad excuse Noble used.
you will need to cut off two plastic mounting lugs and drill some new mounting holes.
