Starting to get a little concerned about rust etc on my 2.5 after all the chat recently. Now, my car, in my opinion, has been quite reliable. I've not got the early engine management system and I've fitted a Quaife and new clutch recently. Gonna need some shocks soon and I've got damp and peeling carpet along the raised areas in the footwells.
Love the car and really happy with black paint. Don't particularly want to upgrade to 3R as I'm not sure what the advantages would be over mine. 1/2 sec 0-60 quicker doesn't justify the extra expense and it sounds like there are just as many problems with the 3R as the sorted 2.5?
The big questions are: How much am I likely to spend putting chassis etc into good condition? If I bought a 3R, am I just paying out another 5-10k and getting the same problems?

The Noble chassis is very thick, other than cosmetic rust it is unlikely you would need to do much other than remove the floor and paint it if it is rusty, however the rear clip seems to suffer on some cars if the heat shielding isn’t correct where the exhaust passes close by, the rear clip isn’t structural, it holds up the I/c box and supports the rear of the clam. Take the diffuser off and have a look.
If you can’t do this stuff yourself, find a competent fitter/mechanic who doesn’t charge a silly hourly rate

Yup. There have been a couple of horror stories relating to chassis rusting and it made me take a look at mine. Barely any rust on it on either the front end or the rear. Just painted it.If you can’t do this stuff yourself, find a competent fitter/mechanic who doesn’t charge a silly hourly rate

Well if yours was rusty, mine was shot to f
k! There was nothing left of the diagonals under the silencer. Whole back end needed drastic surgery, including (don't know the terminology) the vertical bit on the drivers side, to which suspension is attached.
Also had the mod done to allow the gearbox to be removed.

At last a good picture of the replacement bar. Shall keep this for the day mine needs doing.
Thanks

Also. I have recently had the whole back of mine apart and my chassis is fine. My car is number 16 so I think its just some where bad and others not (I think someone once said a few chassis were left out in the rain at Noble!)
