Its a matter of security

Reading a bit on this years antics at LeMans I noticed some people have had their car doors opened and water or urine thrown in. Usually around the Houx Annexe area. This area does attract some dheads its true. Got me thinking about security on the Nob and how vulnerable we and our other halves are when driving them through certain areas. Has anyone developed a way of locking the doors to the outside world when they are driving?

I've set my alarm off so many times by confusing myself with the remote. How come sometimes I've managed to unlock it then set the alarm off by opening the door and getting in?

Well it works like that on mine so I would assume they're all the same?

On mine (2.5 '02), the alarm is programmable so that the doors are automatically locked when the ignition is on and the car is running and automatically unlocked when the ignition is switched off

I believe that if you unset it without the ignition on and do nothing the alarm resets itself in 30 seconds

The info you need is in the us build manual if you have a copy. Page 183 is alarm details on programmable features. One being doors locked with ignition.

The car comes to your without the door lock option programmed. As mentioned above obtain the datasheet to program it to lock both doors when you start the engine.

BTW, do we all know that you can program the blip on or off - off please as blipping alarms are most chav and we are, after all, the Nobility!

That's something that I keep meaning to program on mine. The blipping on arming/disarming really annoys me.

Tried the button when I went to work in the car today. Yep, the doors locked alright. The thing with these forums is that they are great for making some of us look really thick!

Speaking of which and completely off topic ....before I start another useless thread - what does the round auxillary switch on the centre console actually do? The manual just states it is an auxillary switch but for what?

IIRC, the spare button was to be used for "high boost - low boost" switch, but idea was shelved, so it just fill a hole in the dash. Looks better than a grommet i guess..
