Hi,
I’m French and I’m the fortunate owner of a M12 GTO 3 since 2 months.
I ‘ve a lot of questions about this car, if somebody can help me, I’d be very pleased:
I’ve a lot of misfire and want to know the cause (electricital contact or petrol circuit or anything else) : Is there a diagnosis soft for this car ?
About AC, what sort of gas and how many ?

Welcome to the Nobility, check your spark plugs for the misfire, somewhere around 37 thou should be ok, sorry I dont know what that is in MM.

Air-con - What's the recharge weight of refrigerant needed?
Noble state 1KG but 950g has been suggested by a few people. Lubricant is PAG oil ISO 100

I had my air-con recharged a couple of weeks ago and I was told that there is only one type of refrigerant that will go in with the type of connector on the cars and I think it was R134 if that makes sense
Well informed Devil, yes R134A. Go to a frig company how can do automotive a/c. Get them to vac system recharge to about 750grams then finish on pressure and sweat-back on the suction pipe.

I was impressed with kwik fit, it was connected to a machine which did it automatically and all they charged was £45, if they improve it by less than 10% then no charge

Whats impossible?
For them to quote a 10%+ improvment they need to messure air on air off temps from the evaporator, which is located in behind the dash-as we all know on any vehicle a hard place to get to. You can try off the air vents but this can be affected by the heater matrix (leaky valve etc). The idea with any a/c,frig system is to set the superheat so the refrigerant has all turned to low pressure superheated vapour by the time it reaches the suction inlet side of the compressor. By adding more refrigerant you are increasing the volume the reciver drier is holding of high pressure subcooled liquid. This doesn't always improve the preformance as stated above and can cause damage, someone stated they charged theirs with 1kg and when the clutch of the comp cut in the engine note dropped-this is a sign of an over-charged system and will push the dew point of the refrigerant dangerously close to the compressor, you would also see a drop in performance as the gas can't absorb the latent heat. What will change soon Devil is soon no company will nowingly be able to charge a system with refrigerant (R134a is an F gas and therefore falls into EC F gas regs) if it has a leak-big or small. At presant kwik-fit can do this as the regs only come into power with systems holding more than 3 kgs, but this figure is set to change. If you or anyone else has had more than 3-400 grms charged, you have a leak and I would love to know Kwik-fits leak detection system, I would suspect none as these guys/girls althrough very good at replacing exhausts etc arn't frig engineers. There is more to an A/C system then just hooking it up to a machine, letting it do its job then saying £40 please Sir. Any frig company worth its salt can do a correct decant, dry nitrogen test, repair, vac, charge, with little cost, and its done by people who understand how refrigerant works not just the machine and which button to press. Wow, what a speech, sorry I should have made it a bit clearer as to what I meant. They say that if they measure the gas and they need to put back less than 110% then there is no charge. I was advised (not by kwik fit but by this forum) that 950 grams is a good amount to put in from empty. They drew the old out and from memory it was less than 750, to they basically topped it up. Whether I was told correctly at 950 is another matter

So....what is the correct amount of gas for me Nob?

Sorry about the speech-did warn you-"how long have you got"!!lol, keeping this short, all cars manufactured are given a set volume for gas charge and oil type and volume. Noble arn't listed, so its down to info from the factory and info from other owners. IMO for a system the size of a noble I would charge to 750gramms then finish on compound pressure gauges and superheat. 1kg is alot of refrigerant for a system of this size. Large charge does'nt mean good a/c quite the reverse. I will one day decant my 3R and fully recharge to find my weight. Cheers Paul biggrin

as i said, mine had around 750 in it, it has never been recharged since it was built so maybe it was correct. i will get in touch with the factory

The factory say 1050 gm - I asked them a few days ago as I`m still in the process of sorting my system. (Looks like an internal fault in the compressor so it`s going to be expensive.....).

Perhaps it’s worth considering something as simple as water ingress through the petrol cap, as has been reported previously with similar symptoms? A new petrol cap (easily ordered from the factory) would rule it in or out.

I have decant my GTO3 and fully recharge was 655g.
