Removing centre console cover ?

Guys,

Gearshift gater has split so need to remove so I can repair it.

I'm trying to remove the centre console top cover (see red arrow on pic) so I can get to the gater, but cant see how it's fixed down.....I'm trying to lever the thing off with a screw driver but I'm concerned about it splitting. Anyone removed this before ????

nuts are located in the tunnel from underneath iirc.

Yep, as already said. Nuts inside centre tunnel.

So I'd need to take the floor off to get to the tunnel ?

And there was me thinking this would be a 5 minute job!

The nuts are accessible through the inspection plates in the floor, but its a real pain. My Gear gaiter is worn out as well, I asked Trimman if he could come up with an over gaiter that you could fit from the top, ive chased him a couple of times but he hasn't come back.

siban01, good luck! I was chatting to mat at jetstream friday and he votes that job as THE worst job on a noble, where as removing the centre bit on the dash gets my vote!

It's not too bad of a job, if you have the car up on a lift. Remove the louvered vent plates, and you can get to all of the nuts fairly easily. I use an 8mm socket on a flex joint on a long extension - no problems at all.

Worst job on a Noble? I would call it a tie between removing the center gauge plate on the dash console, and removing the rear underpanel on a car that leaked oil then went into a gravel trap at the race track...

Wouldn't mind meeting the Burk who designed it this way!

It wasn't like this on my 2.5 as I remember changing that no problem. Oh well.
