New Noble Nearly Ready
650bhp, Carbonfibre-Bodied M600 Supercar Will Built In The UK
The long awaited Noble supercar, the 650bhp M600, will finally be launched in late August, the Leicestershire-based company has revealed. MD Peter Boutwood told evo that the first pre-production prototype has been accumulating miles in the UK in readiness for sign-off, something our exclusive shots of the car undergoing high-speed testing at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground confirm.
The mid-engined, carbonfibre-bodied supercar evolved from the stillborn M15 but, according to Noble, nothing of that original car has made it through to production. ‘There is nothing quite like it on the market,’ said Boutwood, who remained tight lipped on what the car’s price will be. ‘It’s more of an analogue car than a digital one. It’s a car for the purists.’
The enormous power output from the bespoke, longitudinally mounted, bi-turbo V8, and an anticipated kerb weight of just 1275kg, give a genuine supercar-level power-to-weight ratio of over 500bhp per ton, yet Boutwood claims that the car is easy to drive, flattering the driver. ‘We’ve concentrated on getting the basics right’ he said. ‘It’s all about the handling and chassis with a Noble.’
The target is still to build one car per week, though Boutwood says that it will be a little while before the hand-built M600 is being produced at that rate. Even now, exactly where the new Noble will be built is yet to be decided, but it will be in the UK.
‘We want it to be a British car built in England,’ said Boutwood.
There is a numbered waiting list of around 70 people who left the small deposit they placed for the M15 with the company and they will get first option on the M600.

No, just a current owner that's had a deposit on the thing for over 4 years and getting a bit bored with waiting for it to arrive.In the meantime I've spent a considerable amount of time in a large number of high bhp/tonne cars and hoping all this "hype" is going to be worth it (and in that respect I mean cost wise).

- what does Noble constitute a launch? I'm assuming they mean 1-2 units available for press and customers in August (I assume this August
) then a wait till spring 2010 for delivery of chassis 003 onwards as the launch ( ha, ha, "Noble" and "launch" in the same paragraph ) next month and the builder yet to be decided (and hence contracts signed, etc.), means some fast tooling-up process.

Maybe we've just been spoiled by the M12? I always thought if it can achieve the A10's time on the TG track (especially while being £200K cheaper) then it will have been worth it. And figure-wise it compares fairly well in that respect.
I`ve just had a look at the EVO `knowledge` to see where the M600 bhp/ton fits:
McLaren F1: 559, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport: 510, NOBLE M600: 510, Pagani Zonda F: 497, Ferrari Enzo: 484, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 SV: 429, Ascari KZ1: 406, Porsche 997 GT2: 369. Doesn`t look that shabby....

And the new Atom is 1000bhp/tonne at £110k, so you need to take that into account as well.

OK I have just updated my profile with new e-mail address, so there is no excuse for PB not to make contact.
Having had the chance to drive the M600 prototype 1 at Bruntingthorpe with a few other chaps some time ago now. I have to say I'm a little pis...d off to find yet more commuication with motoring press without communicating progress with deposit holders. Autocar even gave July as the launch date of the M600. Exclusive to Top Gear?
I think we all know the M600 will be north of £100,000. With that kind of money, I hope that not just the car will stand up to the price, but also the companies pre sales communication and aftersales service will also be worthy. If it's not, I cannot really believe anyone will part with that kind of money for any type car, no matter how quick it is.
So come on PB, love to hear from you.
