Please look at the link below and tell me if this is the type of gearbox fitted to the GTO-3.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/01-03-MONDEO-ST220-3-0-V6-GE...

Also.

How difficult is it to go to the 6 speed on a GTO-3

As far as I'm aware the swapping for a 6 speed is the easy and cheap bit. Its the linkage swap that is very expensive.

don,t know wether it is going to be cheap !!!

you need :

gearbox
AP clutch flywheel ect
wishbone
tank mod
linkage
new padding on tunnel
gear knob

, done a fair bit of reserch and you will also need to get box refurbished and shot peened as they are a bit weak on the 5th gear ............there is also some argument that the rations of the 5 speed box suit the engine and car better.

with labour i guess you are looking at 4-5k !!

From the quote I had, you also need a new starter motor and if you have a 5spd LSD, that won't fit so add a 6spd LSD to your shopping list. If you can get all that done for £4k-£5k, rip their arm off but as stated, make sure the gearbox is strengthened aswell as 5th is flaky on the 6spd box.
There's more info on 5spd Pt Nos and ratios here http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Right then, the 6 speed is totally not going to happen, but going back to my original thread, is that the same box as in the GTO-3?

The guys in the US are offering us or someone a OEM LSD diff for $50 and they have 50 of them. they are not Quaife and I have asked if its the one they fitted to the 3R/M400 in the US.

Not for me as I have a 5spd with Quaife but if anyone is interested then I can give them details.

Yeah, I have since found that in the US they had an LSD but not quaife. It was removed and a Quaife fitted. That's why they have 50 for sale.

No good for us as all the 6spds have LSD I think.
