general upkeep
Discussion
hey again everyone. got my noble at the weekend was looking for a bit of advice on general upkeep and things i can do to look after her a bit more. it will be used as my everyday car. also any1 no what the capacity of the fuel tank is. is it 40l. any advice would be really apreciated
The floor pan is aluminium plate that is riveted to the space frame chassis. The floor pan rivets need removing, old sealant removing and new applied. Then the floor pan riveting back on. The windscreen sometimes leaks from just beneath the roll cage. Check if you have had the fuel pump mod done, as letting the fuel drop below half a tank can end up running the car lean, as on cornering it sometimes pulls a little air through with the fuel.

how can i tell if this has been done. it has full noble history would this done automaticly by them. the paper work i have is a bit scarce as all the paper work is a copy as originals are missing but have spoken to williams noble centre and they do no the car and they suplied the copies. also the miliage stacks (26500) up but the leather seats are quite worn on the edges. is this normal.
I think that the fuel gauges have been set deliberately pessimistic to prevent a low fuel level causing the engine to run lean when cornering hard (or under hard acceleration/braking). On my car the gauge seems to be linear but the tank is half full when it reads quarter full and shows empty when there is 20 litres of fuel left in the tank. The fuel consumption varies dramatically with the use of your right foot. On a long run taking it easy (80-85 mph cruising) with `limited` acceleration I can get 27 mpg. On a local run for fun I get about 15 mpg and could well imagine on a track you would be in single figures.
On the seat issue I think it is probably normal wear and on my car I think the side bolster wear has been increased by the full harness belts rubbing on the leather when previous owners have climbed in and out.

Wear on the seats is normal.
I managed to stop the water entering the cabin by liberally spreading black sealant along the joins of the underside sections.
There are narrow plates between the main underbody sections and the side skirt of the car on each side (directly under the doors). I payed particular attention to the joins between those long narrow plates (easy to reach without jacking up) and have had no problems with ingress since doing that.
I also sealed the join between the main cabin undertray and the chassis where the front undertray joins as I found water would leak into the driver's footwell if I parked nose-up and it rained. Involved removing the front undertray though which (first time) was a pig...
