Water in passenger footwell & ticking noise from engine???
Discussion
Popped up the road to see another Noble owner, (there's only about 3 of us in the county!!) its an early 2.5 model. He was complaining of water in the passenger foot well. I think it may be his A/C system, but how do we cure it, is it the drain blocked?? The other fault that has raised its head is a "ticking" noise coming from underneath the heat-shield below the rear window, more noticeable when engine is on tick-over. Could this be a cracked manifold???
Many thanks

I had a ticking noise in the same area you are describing. Turned out being a tappet which needed changing. Try and locate exactly where the ticking is coming from with one end of a garden hose stuck in your ear. Its a bit tricky to pinpoint but its worth a shot. Many thanks

Gets wet on dry days, seem to remember seeing this problem threaded before, cant remember if it was drain or something else,..... Mike you can do better than that
You're right, and I feel bad now, solets have some more details. describe the tick, gas escaping spitting noise type tisk, mechanical solid tick, front of engine, high low noise etc.
intrnet diagnosis is always a best guess but we can try i guess.
Mike.

It may be the exposed metal fittings on the A/C lines "sweating" - try wrapping them in insulating tape where they attach to the core under the dash. Could also be a clogged drain - I don't know about the 2.5L cars, but on the 3 liter cars, the drain tube is behind the front vent panel on the underside of the car. Ticking can be a cracked manifold or just a loose joint pre or post the turbo in the exhaust system.
The water-in-the-footwell is generally around the air con, although a rotten floorpan (rife on 2.5's) can do the same if left outside or driven on wet roads.
If neither of the latter it'll be around the aircon almost certainly. There is a thread on the US forum somewhere about that, if you can't find it shout and I'll have a go for you.

Paul,
Been googling.

The last one reminded me I think it's in the US build manual. Do you have the US assembly manual? If not, get over to http://www.nobleparts.co.uk/forum/ and get registered (quote your car VIN number to the forum owner to get access)
