Hit the mat yesterday, big article about the empire being back, the new Maclaren, the new rolls royce,the Brawn F1 and a load of other British stuff.

No New Noble..........................oops!

They are probably quite wary of Noble after wasting valuable programme time track testing and bigging up the M15.

I doubt the M600 will get the same reverential treatment - on paper or in the programme.

Something fishy about the Maclaren though, they announced the car a couple of days ago, the magazine has a lag of 4-6 weeks, they are saying it's ready, and they are quoting delivery as 2011

I think it's a spoiler for the new Ferrari.

Almost certainly to ensure it steals the news of Frankfurt I'd imagine.

The Mclaren is genuine full CF tub, looks to die for, performance to match, brag factor zillion plus ("made in same factory as Hamiltons car, in fact probably the same identical bloke"), backed by a world class development team, 200+ mph and probably 0-60 low 3s AND is circa £150K.

What chance does the M600 stand against that???

Throw in the fact that it's only the "middle" McLaren in a three car line up, with a convertible thrown in a year later and, err, I'm not sure the Noble stands any sort of chance.

No weight in the press release... the CF tub looks to be a passenger cell rather than a genuine tub... prototypes with fancy door openers (no one bothers with that in real testing)... just smacks of Dennis wanting to ps off Ferrari...

That tub looks very much like the floor pan of my Renault, just carbon something (not fibre) instead of alli

Whatever the specifics of the McLaren are against the M600, it looks like a very appealing and well thought out package. It might not end up priced at £150k - who knows? - but if Noble want to at least compete in some way then surely they will have to revise the price downwards to something similar.

I'm sure they will both be great cars but (and this is only based on what's been released about each of them) the McLaren has a lot more going for it on the surface than the Noble, in my opinion. I think it's a great looking car and as more photographs are released one can see how well thought out it appears to be, aerodynamically, mechanically and ergonomically.

I can't wait to see the mac and 458 in the flesh, it's a two horse race as far as I'm concerned, the Noble I'm afraid is the donkey with a broken leg at the back of the field (or should that be front?).
I really don't care for the Nob even if it is faster etc, both the mac and Fezza are streets ahead in looks and build IMO.

I do to. I suspect the 458 will be slightly disappointing in the loooks department, with the back end a bit ungainly (what recent Ferrari doesn't suffer this?) and the front less 'swoopy' than the CGIs suggest.

With a £150k price tag they will make money realistically if they sell 1000 cars.
Conversly the Noble will always cost more because it is low volume. Whether it is worth it will be down to the individuals choice of price/rarity value. The Mclaren is not 'live' but will attract customers due to brand image.

You guys checked out the just updated Mclaren website. Car looks stunning in the details and 600 bhp FI v8 custom built.

Looks like a proper carbon tub with subframes for suspension and engine.


I fear for Noble as Mclaren meant to go head to head against 458 so 170k ballpark.

What do you know about the noble for sale on autotrader for 18.5k? might take the plunge? or borrow some money and go for a ferrari 355 or 360.

Hi Mick, I mentioned you on here a few days ago regarding glassfibre repairs and hey presto you pop up, The Noble would be more fun, I would try and buy one here on PH as you will be able to find out the history and probably speak to the previous owners, but I do love 355's
