1/4 mile..when to change gear

so, for the best 1/4 mile time when do you change gear? In my 2.5 i reckon (from listening and feel!) that about 5,500 rpm is where it just makes more noise....so is that the right tome to change up?

At the 1/4 mile should you be in 3rd or 4th ???

Are you sure with 5.5? As my 2.5 pulls strongly through to 6.4. Not done a timed 1/4 so don't know what you're looking at timewise.

Indicated 5.5k sounds about right as its probably revving nearer 6k in real time !
