Idiots?

So I am taking it easy since getting my Noble.

Found a good way of getting over the speed bumps without scrapping the front of my car by going over it at an angle and not straight on.

But problem I find is that I obviously have to go very slowly, so what happens? Women in their cars behind attempt to overtake me!! Going down residential streets over speed bumps ... come on! Why are they so stupid? Are they that impatient? Has happened twice now ... and both times have been women.

Then the other day going along the A3 there are a set of traffic lights at the Barnes intersection. I slow down as the lights are red changing down gear. Coming almost to a stop, when the lights change to green. The car behind me pulls out to over take me without looking and a motorbike screeches and smacks into the side of the car! This car does not stop; accelerates hard cuts in front of me and shoots down the road cutting other people up.

Luckily the guy on the bike was OK he managed to stay upright but his wing mirror on his BMW was hanging loose.

Now I tend to stay twice the distance from everyone, and I realise (because I am actually a daily cyclist) visibility from any sports car is rubbish so will definitely keep my distance when cycling and never ever assume anyone can see you.

I think all road users - pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, truck drivers, bus drivers etc should all have to experience all modes of transport when taking their test to really understand everyone's perspective.

I cycle every day in central London, owned a motorbike and now got a sports car and it is through experiencing all of this I can relate to all road users and give room and be aware that there might be a cyclist or motorbike on my inside etc.

If i'm not playing with bikes on the road , I always move over to give them a bit more room to pass as I like to see them give a wave of thanks.

This might make you smile. The other night, coming home from the obligatory visit to my parent’s house, with my wife, child and dog, found myself being tailgated by the car behind. We were in my wife’s car, but I wasn’t hanging around but, I was sticking to the 30mph limit like st to a blanket. We then hit the 40 zone and this idiot decides he is going to overtake me coming up to a bend. I slowed to let the pratt past but kept my lights on full. If he wants to overtake in a 40 zone, cause me to slow, endangered my family, I’m sorry I’m going to be slightly ignorant and leave my lights on full. The driver didn’t like this and slowed, putting on his fog etc etc. The next thing the rear passenger starts throwing things out of the car, then a bottle. My wife asked me to back off so I did, but not before saying to me “ I know that lad in the back, I’m sure he lives up the road”. Well sure enough, the next weekend we had a home match and after the game my wife pointed out one of my young rugby members and tells me that that’s the kid who threw the bottle at our car. Lets just say he came of the next training session with a few extra bumps and bruises. Just prior to the start of the training session I mentioned to the lad that he had been spotted throwing bottles out of the window of a red 306. O, right he said going rather red, yes I told him, by me and my family!!!! He bought me a lucosade after and apologized, but as I said to him, you never can tell who is in a car…..good or bad!!!!! But we were all young once. We learn very little from history, some things you have to learn for yourself!!!
