Early 3R's were 5-speed with option for 6-speed.

Correct. I have a 3 with 6-speed & LSD, so both combinations exist ( i.e. 3r with 5-speed, 3 with 6-speed ).

i think they have lsd written in yellow ink on them

if you are unsure - jack one wheel and turn the other

it should not turn

Give it a bit of stick and drop the clutch in first, tyre tracks:
number 1 open diff
number 11 LSD

Turn the one in the air!
If open diff, it will turn freely. If LSD it will not.

I know that is the theory but the Noble LSD does not use friction plates so I think you can turn the jacked up wheel.

lol yes thats what i meant

the diff is actually a quaife ATB Automatic Torque Bias Diff

it will operate like a viscous or plated diff if you lift one wheel

I didnt realise you can get a 3R with 5 speed, are they definately factory fitted? The whole point of the R version was that it had upgraded trans with diff, front clam etc..
I dont see how it can be classed as an R version with 5 speed, i can understand the later GTO3 having the option of six speed, but going the other way just doesnt make sense.

The 3R is the new flagship. A re-styled nose featuring more aggressive-looking headlamps, and a much-improved design of alloy wheel, has enhanced the GTO's visual appeal, while more power (352bhp) and torque (350lb ft), a six-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential make this the most driver-focused Noble yet.

3R has More power than a GT03 ???? And its more driver-focused !!! because it has a extra gear !!

much-improved design of alloy wheel ........except they are made of cottage cheese and bends alot !!!
