Its all gone Pete Tong!

I hate Mondays with a passion, so as I climbed out of bed this morning to set off for work at 05:30 I was in my same Monday Blues mood. Some days you just know its going to be a bad day, what with tripping over the cat which was laying in ambush outside the bedroom door to the bombshell of a cat litter tray spread over the entire floor, with two onlooking felines looking at me to say "as if it were us".
Well at least I had the drive to work to look forward to, as I always do. That 30 miles of stress relief pre and post work. Today was to be the exception. The Noble gave a little cough on start up and fired up as she does every day. This day however was unusual as it stalled, then the starter wouldn't engage. Odd, but undeterred she was given another prod of the start button. We're off, all indications normal. After 200yards, those indications started to change. I was being followed in the darkness by a rolling mist, synonymous to something out of the "Fog"...... hmmmmm, stop and have a look, bit of steam from the car? nope that' smoke with some steam mixed in. Decision time, back home or to work?, well she has never failed me before so I ventured on, and after 5 minutes she was happy as Larry (Don't know who he is, by the way) So the rest of the journey proved uneventful. At lunchtime I ventured outside to have a nosey at her. A pool of water underneath the exhaust and water dripping from it, didn't bode well. The reservoir was empty, yet during the drive in the gauge never ventured past 85º. Topped up the water and inspected the hoses for leaks. Bugger, none to be found. Where the hell could it have gone to - Found it 5 minutes later as I removed the oil filler cap and was greeted with a lovely meringue.
So, it looks like one of the head gaskets has decided to fail, but I don't think its that simple as that, as water was last seen dripping from the turbo!
On a good note, the AA were very helpful, so were the garage, and even the warranty company gave the go ahead with a no quibble "take it to whoever and get it fixed attitude" So, I have a bit of time to kill to await my courtesy car, I'm thinking a Corsa or that ilk.
Told you, I hated bloody Mondays!

Most of that kind of work has been done already, like LSD and uprated Turbo's. But I have got a few things that need doing and might as well be done at the same time, but that is all dependant on how far or deep the work is required. Sods law, I had three track days planned over the next 2 weeks. Non refundable....bugger!

Sorry to hear that Marc,
Head gasket can be done without taking out the engine on the 2.5, I have pictures to prove it, so turn around should be quick.

Heads can come off on a 3.0 Ltr without engine removal aswell, Roush quoted for flowing mine a while back.Head gasket can be done without taking out the engine on the 2.5, I have pictures to prove it, so turn around should be quick.

I couldn't reconcile the need for it with forced induction, it was at this point I decided I would do the engine upgrade work myself or sell.
As it turned out that decision was made for me.

sorry to hear the bad news mate. just out of interest does the warrenty cover everything mechanical and is it expensive
The warranty covers all parts and labour with the exception of normally wearing components IE: Brakes, Disks, Clutch etc. It would have been £750 for the year, but fortunately The chap who had it before me and after Simon put a two year transferable warranty on it, so it only cost me £25 to transfer the warranty.Gassing Station | Noble | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
