Air filters

Does anybody know what model the air filters are for a 3R?
I see from the wiki the 2.5's are K&N R-1380, are these used on all models?

Having never been in a Noble with the air filters in the standard (intercooler box) position I decided to re-locate mine there today......all I can say is GOD I MISS THE SOUND!!!!

On the other hand, surely theres more cool air there than above the front turbo where they were originally located??
Must say tho, am seriously tempted to move them back just for the whooshes and flutters right behind my head!

I have just watched the top gear with clarkson and darth vader in his Noble, I take it that noise is from the filters being behind the seats.
Is there any advantage or disadvantage from either position?

The pros and cons of this have been debated a few times on here but from what I can gather, the only real improvement is to ensure both pipes are the same length i.e. mounting one air filter behind the nearside bulkhead and the other on the offside i.c. box.
It's claimed that using more rigid pipes is also said to be of benefit.

yep, just what i did with mine, you get a nice blend of induction sounds without it being too loud plus equal lenghts of induction hose to both turbos, cant be a bad thing can it

I believe from Wind tunnel testing that was carried out by the few elite members, it was noted that there is more air flow to the IC area than there is in the std 2.5/3 position.

believe you are correct, i didnt notice any change in performance one way or the other when i moved one of mine forwards, the sound was nice though....lol

There is a decided disadvantage with the filters located behind the seats, they pull in markedly hotter air from that location, and this knocks back the ignition advance. Benefits would be gained from boxing in and heat shielding around the filter to lessen this effect.

If the filters are enclosed, is there sufficient throat area for them to pull in enough air from the window scoops, as they receive very little airflow, allegedly, from the wind tunnel results.

Likewise.....moved them forward on my 3R and couldn't notice any performance difference but there was a much bigger grin factor !!
