If you go to Noble parts, I'm sure I put the 2 part numbers for the box.

As Bondy says, there are only two MTX75 Pt Nos (FINIS Codes) that Noble recommend: 1206944 which was superseded by 1232410. Both are as rare as hens teeth!
Someone on here did fit the XS4R 7201 DB Gearbox from a 2.5L Cougar (FINIS 1099019) but I believe the bell housing needed a little fettling to allow it to be fitted and the gear ratios aren't exactly the same as the standard box - but they are pretty damn close.
The ratios on the standard box are..

1st 3.42
2nd 2.14
3rd 1.48
4th 1.11
5th 0.85
F/Drive 3.82

Be aware of the box they offer on the Quaife site as the gear ratios are not right and even if you play around with different final drives, the maximum speed you'd get would be c.140mph. frown
What's actually happened to yours? In the end, I had mine rebuilt, shot-peened and machined for cooling by 'The Gearboxman.' http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ Cost to do this was c£1K but you'll have a very strong gearbox at the end of the day. If you just go down the route of buying another one, it'll just break again eventually.

Open diff's have gone more frequently than the gearboxes that's for sure however if you are going to the expense and trouble of fitting an LSD it would be worth having the gearbox 'beefed-up' while it's out... especially if you are thinking of running more power through it.
I know it's easy spending other peoples money on here but it could save you a fortune in the long run.
Hope you get it sorted soon

I felt the same as you.... every time I drove it I broke it... to the point where I was heading to a Gallardo, but doing ALL the reliability upgrades to it has now finished and hopefully it will be better and has been so far...

I keep getting to that point, im lucky that i have my own garage so i can do the work myself or it would have cost me £1000, its a great car when its running but i think the quality is very poor, but for the money it best looking car that money can bye!! it has let me down so many times, im begining to get anoyed that everytime sumin goes wrong im sitting at the side of the road looking like a right dick!!

im sure as soon as i sell it the next person will never have a problem as id have ironed all the issue out. i just dont trust the thing anymore!!

Send it to the the Gearboxman,

www.gearboxman.co.uk

They are specialists in Noble gearboxes, I have just had the 6 speed MMT6 reconditioned with them, needed 2nd,5th,6th syncs and bearings, it only cost £520 +vat

they can also offer you numerous upgrades and cooling for it.

i gave him a buz, he is very helpfull, 2k for an uprated box, if i was going to keep the car it may be worth doing, but to be honest im sick of the thing, so im going to get the box out and see how much damage it has done if its only a diff then ill just replace it!!

Hi Terry,

Try not to get too downhearted mucker. Why not leave it for a couple of weeks then plough into it as a winter project? Mail Tuxman and Arty they both virtually stripped cars to bare bones put good fixes in and hey presto. Touch wood the only problems are the original fit ones from Noble so once you have sorted them it should be an altogether stronger car. Keep your pecker up and let us all know how you get along?

It will be a fuse probably, mine did this a few times but now I have replaced it and cleaned the contacts its ok,
I have had numerous fuses go like this so I put some polythene over the fuse board so that the condensation does not drip onto it and not had any probs since.
