Incorrect M400 TG Power lap time!!!

Hi all, I am new to these forums but have been a Noble owner and enthusiast for many years, I have some nifty modifications which I will post on here soon.

I need help with a Problem that has been giving me a headache for many years and has caused countless arguements, it is because of this incorrect power lap time listing of 1min25 on the Top gear website, stating incorrectly that it was set my a Noble M400.

It was not an M400 they tested that set this lap time, it was a late 2002/early 2003 M12 GTO3, with old 5 Speed transmission, I am sure you all aware of the model.

Below is the episode which proves what I am saying, you can clearly see the old style mini headlights and at the end of the clip they physically pin it to the board as Noble 3.0, so there was clearly a clerical error while trtansfering the information to their website, even Wiki got it wrong calling it up as a GTO3R.

It is series 2 episode 10 where they race it against a TVR350C, that set the 1min25 lap time. This is under rating and lowering the resale value of the M400, and I am asking for all forums members to write to Top Gear to correct their website as I am sick of having to have this arguement with people, not to mention the lap time was set by the black stig.

I have written to them several times but they just do nothing about it, the M400 is a completely different beast to the M12 GTO3 as i am sure you will all agree.

Below is a clip of the only time they did a lap time with the M400 when it was raced against the le mans GT40, the unofficial time was 1min21.2 but was never put on the board.

Anybody who owns a M400 or a GTO3R should care about this because i have owned all models and the performance difference from the GTO3 to the GTO3R alone was significant due to the upgraded transmission, the M400 has 75BHP more and upgraded suspension to list a few.

I mean the FQ400 is listed as 1min24.8 on TG website but yet the M400 on Fifth gear stripped a few seconds off the FQ400 lap time, anyway the clips above prove beyond all doubt it was not an M400 and not even a GTO3R, so then I get people comparing an FQ400 to a M400 or an Lotus Exige S to a M400, and shoving the TG power lap time in my face as proof, it is only proof that the Top Gear team have made a clerical error, but still i have to have these frustrating arguements over and over.

Your help to get Top Gear to correct their website would be greatly appreciated.

TBH yes, that sort of thing is annoying but I seriously doubt its affecting resale values. Anyone that bases buying a car of that calibre on TG lap times doesnt deserve one.

I just cant see anything you/I or anyone does making them change the time/description of the car.

Might be worth writing to TG as an owner and saying you'd like the stig to take your car round and set a real time. (personally I wouldnt want to do that thought)

I'd move on knowing you are right and not worry about it anymore.

I thought the lap time of 1.25 was from a 2.5 not a GTO3?

Just checked and it was the dark red 2.5 and the lap was in the wet?

lol and so it goes on, the Red M12GTO 2.5 did a lap in 1min33 in the wet, at least that lap time is correct on the Top gear site.

It was a silver GTO3 that did 1min25, i guess you did not watch the clip i posted.

lol, to many people it will probably not matter, i just like facts to be facts and fiction to be fiction, Top Gear states it is a factual programme on the home page, the M400 lap time is not factual, and if it really doesnt bother you, why even bother replying to this post, i am only appealing to people who feel it does matter, if nobody wants to take action i guess i will just have to accept i am the only person that finds this frustrating.

+1. my point exactly Peter, not factual at all, we know it is for entertainment, but 80% think differently and when they are choosing a performance car, they refer to this power lap board and take it as gospel, i am sick of having to kick peoples ass in my Noble to prove to them the Top gear site was wrong, i got a 1000 euro speeding ticket because a guy saw the Top Gear site and thought his evo FQ400 was faster, while i was laughing at him in my rear view i did not see the mobile police camera ahead of me.

I agree with you. It would be nice to know what time these cars can do on the track in standard form. I guess they'll ask for a car to borrow for the day....anyone going to offer if topgear gives it the go-ahead?

No race tracks here in Cyprus we have to take our chances on the streets,they just rejected another application to build a race track.
I suppose you just keep the speed limits where ever you go? You never got into a race with another car on a public road?
I am just thankfull it was in cyprus and not in the UK I would have got a prison sentence for the speed i was doing, i do not race in residential areas or with other cars around, there are certain roads in Cyprus which are long deserted strips, the police know we go to race there, they just radar us for extra taxation, they hide behind bushes literally.

I've been to Cy many times and love it, my friends have a hotel there and i have driven over a fair bit of the island. Beautiful place and fantastic people, all with largely one thing in common. Bloody terrible drivers. Driving too fast in the wrong circumstances and believeing that they are far more able than they actually are.

No, I dont keep to the speed limits all the time, I see no problem with speed in the correct environment..BUT if I were caught "looking over my shoulder laughing" while racing another car (and trying to prove to another driver that my car was quicker than his/disprove something on top gear!!)...I wouldnt come on here moaning about a 1000 euro fine and trying to blame it on top gear!
