Your thinking about it Devil arn't you, nice 3R. Highish mileage and interior colour that might not be to everyones taste might be holding this one back. But I do like that colour blue with the dark wheels. Only had the intercooler done Devil so you would still spend a fortune on all the other bits!!!!!!!!!biglaugh

I would not buy one on 25k miles, that is high, lots of things may be on the way out including all the coolant hoses, turbo hoses etc..general engine wear, you do not know how it has been driven, the 2nd gear sync will probably have had some hammer, the bearings, the list is too long.. it will need money spending in the near future, so in the long run you will not be saving.

I think you are going down the right lines looking for an R version, but you need to be looking for something with around 6k genuine miles, or something that is a well known car to these forums and has had all the work done and is known to be well maintained, but again you are looking at paying a premium.

I searched for 6 months before i found one all original with low milage, only dry use, never been tracked, the guy had a bentley and had the Noble as a toy, but i had to pay a premium, i paid 40k, even then i have spent about 15k on top and 100's of man hours, i will sell mine one day to some lucky ba***ard.

Buy a nice low milage base model R, mod it, make it yours, if you want the real deal, it will cost which ever way you try to do it.

I would choose paying an extra 10k to get a an R version on genuine low dry miles as a base model, because on a high mileage you would soon need an engine rebuild, new clutch, reconditioned transmission, new hoses, plus all the other endless list of items that will have had wear and tear, all the undepans screws will have rusted and will take hours to cut off, the exhaust will have come loose and brackets will have broken, heatshields will be rattling, discs will need replacing, everything in the engine bay will look tatty, by the time you have finished it will have cost you more in time and money to bring it close to the same condition as the low milage, in fact you may still after all that work still end up with less of a car, because the interior with be worn and so on.

Top marks for one hell of a generalization.I've seen cars that have 25K miles on in better condition than 5K milers. And of course vice versa.

Come on!!! 25k is high(ish) for this type of car. Yes they were built to be driven, but they arn't your average every day run around. Thus the price reflexs.

By the same token they weren't meant to sit around for days/weeks on end, or be driven once a week thrashed and put away again.Cars hate that more than anything, let alone something like a Noble. The same applies to these cars as any other, buy on condition/provenance and gut feeling, not mileage.

Yup, it is my daily run around, ok, so I had a couple of problems over the last couple of weeks, but its back on track so to speak just in time for its 30k service smile, there are some high milers that have been well looked after too.

19000 on my clock when I bought my 2.5 two and a half years ago. 42000 now, all of them fun! Spent very little considering the type of car it is. Have seriously been thinking about a 3R or M400, but I reckon I'd have to find another 10k and then it could keep going wrong, irrespective of mileage.
Might just get a respray and tidy it up a little.idea

I have to laugh at 25k miles being high also

Its a ford engine and these cars have done 150,000 miles.

25k on a 7 year old car is only 3.5k miles a year

6k on a 7 year old car is 857 miles a year.

Cars need to be used, low milage cars are normally the ones which are fooked imho due to lack of use, dry seals every where rust every where hiden due to not getting up to temp, the list goes on.

I have seen some great 25k miles cars, the the bits which wear out have been changed etc etc.

My car has done 14k miles double the 6k you recomend and it's spotless and no rust on the chassie.

In fairness every 360 I've driven has been woeful letdown. Hoever I haven't driven a Challenge Stradale, one of my all time faves.....

I've got nearly 50k on mine on an 02 plate and I don't class that as high mileage on a 2.5l engine!

Used at least once a week all year round. Only major bill so far (touch wood) ECU, in three years of ownership.

Like i said, if you find one that is well documented and well maintained and is known to these forums, then that is different, because the milage doesnt matter so much if all the work has been done, but like i also said they do not come cheap, it is all relative, hence you get what you pay for, so it was not a generalization about 25k mile cars SJC you just did not read my post properly.

I just had my transmission reconditioned with new clutch etc.. at 15 k miles, the clutch had life left but not a lot,the 2nd, 5th, 6th gear syncs needed replacing along with bearings, you do not want to wait for things to break before you take action as that turns out more expensive, and at least 12k of those miles have been easy cruising as i use it as a daily driver, so yes i believe 25k miles is high if it has not been well maintained.

If you are into spannering professionally then it is ok to buy one cheap at high miles, because you can make it financially viable as a project.

To summarize Devil, view each Noble on its own merits, I only wanted to point out the pitfalls with trying to get something on the cheap, it may work out more expensive in the long run!
You may well find a bargain that has been really well maintained and i hope you do.

If buying a 360 please be even more careful, my friend owns a Ferrari garage, he has 3 in a week for new transmission at less than 30k miles, the repair bills would be crippling and they have more issues than you would think, £15k repair bills are not uncommon, there are some really bad examples that get problems covered up, i agree that they are sexy cars though, but again you will pay a premium for a good one and please consider the servicing costs.
