Written it off...

Hit a roundabout I wasn't expecting at about 70mph.

Cue mayhem, flew about 10-15 feet in the air, took out two chevron signs and the electrical installation on the other side of the roundabout. I'm battered and a bit sore in the middle of my back but essentially fine and the cockpit held up amazingly well. No intrusion or malformation at all. No-one else involved (thank God...) and the only police involvement was a breath test and short lecture about how lucky I was.

My fast car days are over...just pleased to be here at work on a Monday morning.
Feel very very lucky in a lot of ways today.

The main thing is you are safe

I did the same when I was 17 and spun on a round about after a row with the GF.

I am sure you will get another fast car when you have settled down abit.

I like driving quickly but just like everyone else the last thing I ever want to do is hurt someone else. Feel very very lucky in a lot of ways today.

The stupid thing is I'd actually had a great day in many ways.
The ex and I had a row about my new girlfriend .

Ah well, I think I got off lightly yesterday.

And yes, I'm honestly not bothered at all about the car. Can be replaced/consigned to good memories. Considering how much it meant to me when it was in one piece, I find that a bit strange...

Someone mentioned that a little more detail might be required in terms of the fact that I was on a dual carriageway. They thought the hitting the roundabout at 70mph bit was possibly incriminating and I agree. Thought maybe I should clear up the fact that it was on a fast road and not a built up area.

Yes, noted and agreed. The accident happened at the speed limit, give or take a couple of miles an hour.

As soon as the breath test came back OK the police announced their interest in the accident was at an end and for me to get better soon. Can't argue with that really considering the mess I made of that roundabout...

Oh, and as for the girl. She has seen it but only briefly. First date is on Friday so I might just hold off telling her I crashed. It's not that I think she will reconsider because the car's gone, more that she's quite sensible and 'proper' and might not take kindly thinking that I might be a bit of a loose cannon. I never found girls liked it anyway (except perhaps women of a certain age).

I think she's more interested stability and while she might quietly like the idea of a bit of excitement, I don't think last night would have been her thing TBH...

It's strange but it's almost like last night didn't really happen.
From crash to home took 3 hours, had some dinner, went to bed and went to work like nothing had occurred. Like it was someone else and not me.

edit: good that you're ok. I've not had one of these "unexpected roundabouts" before... usually they have signs and stuff? Perhaps a call to the council to get that fixed!
