Hey folks, been busy lately but thought id finally post some pictures of the work i talked about doing.

My car...

All the gubbins removed...

Engine out...

New helix uprated with fixed centre plate clutch going on...

Old and new stainless steel manifolds (old items cracked, bits broke off damaging turbo's!)

Starting to put it all back in was the hard part!

All clean and exhaust neatly wrapped

Havent got a picture of it all back in or the new turbo's but will add them later, now she's tucked away till i can be bothered fixing the mysterious leaking clutch fluid.

Hmm, i cant see the pictures now.

Taking the engine out was fairly easy, it was my first engine removal ever and managed fine so im sure if you know how to use a spanner your sorted.

Just incase anyone is curious, yes it started first turn of the key and ran fine for 15 mins upto temprature, no water leaks and all as it should be other than there's clutch fluid coming out of something. frown

Very nice write up with pictures, i especially like the exhaust manifolds, saw these upgrades on the noble website a few week back and was tempted. Good to see a Noble being maintained properly, i replaced my clutch and recon trans recently but just put a new Ap racing clutch back in from Noble £505+vat, never had a problem with the Ap one so far, but i hear the Helix have a better torque rating.
The weak link that i found was the release bearing, it had a groove 3mm deep scored into it redcard

Every time I see a thread like this it never ceases to amaze me just how much knowledge there is on this forum.

That intercooler looks high volume, are you getting consitent boost with that, any lag? What bar are the turbos running? What thickness is it?
I tried a big volume intercooler and found i got inconsistent boost and lag even running T28's at 1.1bar, So i kept the same size but changed it from 80mm thick to 62mm and it made a massive difference and was still very effective at absorbing the heat, so i got the extra performance from cooling, without the downsides of having too much volume.

respect goes out to you if its your first ever engine out job

you are a brave man to take on a noble for your first go !

was it engine out to change the manfifolds ? or did the clutch need doing ?

can we see more pics of the clutch

did you get the box upgraded at the same time ?

The clutch going was the main reason for taking the engine out, then discovered the turbo's and manifolds needed replaced.

The manifolds are the stainless steel jobbies from Noble.

The intercooler, piping, water header and oil catch tank are all from pro-alloy. It was just at 1 bar of boost and I never experienced any lag etc. seems to do its job pretty well.

These are the only two other pictures i have with the clutch bits showing.

I didn't have the gearbox strengthened but its been on my mind the past few days. I am very tempted to remove it to be strengthened and i can get on with replacing the floorpan while the box is away, its coming into winter now anyway.
