re Noble M600 price
Discussion
Noble have been criticized for the price of the M600 but it's better the company's long term financial prospects are considered. Prior to the M600 Noble was never profitable which isnt a very viable business.
The Lexus/Toyota LFA is sold at £343k but even then Toyota makes no money.

Quote "Toyota won’t make any money from the Lexus LFA, which was finally revealed at the Tokyo show after six years in development......The brief was to create a halo car for the brand"
The (original) Mini was sold at a loss, the Bugatti Veyron at a loss, the first generation A class etc. Sometimes, worth "paying" for the image and market niche / press coverage. Toyota it seems can "afford" this even with the LFA far more expensive than its competitors.
M600 pricing compares well to Lamborgini for example.
Given the performance it offers over other cars in the market, the £200k price makes sense.

Toyota can 'afford' to sell it at a loss because they have a lot of other models they sell for lots of profit though, likewise the Veyron had an awful lots of money behind it within the VAG Group itself.
Noble does not have these sorts of things to fall back on and sell their product at a loss. I know Dyson is very rich but surely not to the levels of the Toyota or VW Group?!
As someone above said, it will only make 'sense' if the market supports that price tag. Looking at the product purely from a outsiders POV and reading what technology is in the M600 and the support/residuals in the longer term I still do not think it makes sense to price in that area.

Shimon, do you work for Noble?
I bet he is to linked with the engine build
?Fair comments though Shimon, i hope the pricing strategy works, it is always a difficult one to weigh up
1. Sell cheap, more sales, more work, but less profit, lose exclusivity factor.
2. Price high, less work, less sales but more profit and at the same time creating more of a prestige brand name.
Like Peter said though number 2 only works if they get the sales, difficult market place, everything is going to depend on the TG power lap time, if it gets in the top 5 i think it will sell, because most of the cars in the top 5 cost way more than 200k, in which case it is exonerated.
You can always expect existing Noble owners to be critical because the majority of us are not really the target market anymore.

Not a jape at you directly but do you really think that peoples decision to spend £200+k on a car would rest on a lap time set by a light entertainment show?! Obviously it is a nice by product of having a good car but...Mike Tuckwood said:

That's what having estimated cash reserves in the $90billion region allows them to do.

With that sort of money they should of just got the LFA out on the market years ago and not bothered trying to tie it in with an illusive F1 win. Whilst they are at it, they should make another Supra to boot.

For me the biggest problem facing the M600 is the McLaren..... similar power, similar weight, and sorry to say it but looks, build and desireability on another planet.
i think at 100,000 the 600 may have a chance but at 30,000 more than the macca?
I'm sure it won't take long before whoever buys an M600 sets off on the trail of tuning it for some 'decent' power. i think at 100,000 the 600 may have a chance but at 30,000 more than the macca?

Why can't they sell the M600 at a loss, to create a Halo car for the company brand
Lee used to sell them at a loss, is this not in true Noble spirit

Martin, I'd think that such a question if asked offline or by PM would be answered promptly, after all, it would be rude not to, surely?Mike.
This is an open forum and EVERYONE'S comments, and the motives behind them, are open to question. It is the individual's choice to answer or not. I thought it a very fair question given the fact that Shimon seems to agree with, and defend, Noble's actions in his posts.
Martin.

At first I thought you were saying that you thought I should have asked him privately, but now I'm not so sure...it reads as though you might have asked him privately and havn't had a reply yet.

Nope. They did finish it so that it would have made a profit at £200k. They decided it was pants though, threw most of it away, and now it costs more than they sell it at to make. However, if you look at it from a technology point of view, it's a far better rational purchase than the M600. Just the electronic systems alone justify the 150k difference IMHO, never mind the fact it looks stunning and clearly is a hoot to drive.

From the clips I have heard, that V10 sounds immense too. The one thing that it really highlights for me is just how much of a bargain the R35 GTR really is in relative terms.

The R35 GTR is serious value for money, amazing car, but it just didnt feel right, you could literally feel the weight shifting from side to side as if it should tip over onto two wheels, but it just didnt, there is some real wizardy going on there, the things the car was doing was bordering on defying the laws of physics, it is a relatively big heavy car, but it accelerates so fast, and just goes round corners so well, my m8 took me in his and took it to 185mph going round a sweeping bend, i could feel the car leaning over, it didnt feel safe and i had to tell him to slow the F**k down, i like to feel what the car is doing, like to feel if the car is on the verge of letting go, with the R35 GTR, this is taken out of your hands, you are just putting all your faith in the electronics, i dont like having my life put in the hands of a computer, but to contradict myself in true Jeremy Clarkson style, would i buy one, hell yes!

Im betting that if you spent another 50k on the R35 it would destroy the new Noble around the track! and yet it would be heavier and half the money!
