Drive shaft removal

Quick question guys , anyone know if its possible to remove the driveshafts out the box without removeing from the hubs , have fitted new porsche hub nuts and don,t want to remove them to get the dirive shafts out the gearbox . did wonder if when i lift the engine they would pull out of the box . nothing in manual about it so any input would be great .thanks Simon

If it was possible it would be fiddly to do when trying to get them back in.
The hub nuts are a fiver....and reusable, so save yourself the time and agro and undo them

just wondered if i drop of the top wishbones there is enough movement to pull them out . ....guess it might be easyer just to pull off the nuts .

you have to release the top of the hubs any way so try it,it may be possible, but the shafts will still be there when you come to drop it all back in and its two bits extra to think about when you are putting it all back in.

I think it's unavoidable, i've re-used the standard hub nuts 3 times now and they never come loose.

Easiest way is to just remove the axle nut. But, if you're planning on leaving your car up on stands until it's all back together, you can leave the axle nut in place, unbolt the upright, and pull it off the car with the half shaft still attached. Simple enough to do - just remove the brake caliper, e-brake cable, the two bolts that attach the top of the upright to the upper ball joint carrier, and the two bolts that attach the bottom of the upright to the lower control arm and the toe link. The downside is that, since the hubs are no longer attached to the car, you can't put the wheels back on to move around the chassis...

Thanks for the input guys , just waiting for some axle stands to arrive then will finish stripping it out ........have ordred 2 new hub nuts might as well pull off the drive shatfs and check all the UJ while they are out .
