Just one more....... Doh!
Discussion
Did five sessions at Bedford Autodrome today, great day out. Supergrass left at about 2.30 and I was low on fuel, so I decided to call it at day, but the Just One More got me...... Half way round, after the long straight as I was re-applying power, the back stepped out viciously (totally out of character with the LSD) to be accompanied by a horrible grinding noise, the odd spattering of scraping noise and a odour of past eaten food as well as a disappearing brake pedal. Limped back to the pits, not a happy bunny - inspected everything I could see nothing showed as being wrong. No loss of fluids, no rattles and grinds at idle...... Select gear and.... the same! All indications normal - tentatively pulled away and there was the noise again, which was relative to the speed... bummer. Limped her home, as I'm no too far away and weeked off the rears. LH all good, if you can call destroying a set of rear tyres good. RH, where the bloody hell did the hub nut think it was going! - as there was over an inch of movement on the rear disk!
This can't of been the first time as the LH was a Porche variant, but you guessed it - a ford one fitted on the RH. Fortunately a re-torque and everything was tickety boo. So I mainly be heading to the Porche dealers to replace the LH.
It was directly from a forum post here that lead me straight to the source of the problem. Ta.
