Re Circ BOV

I currently have a forge BOV and at some point I need to have a re circ BOV (BOV to air is not liked in OZ). What are my options, can I mod what I have or is it a new system?

Ok, why is it a waste of time? Will it still not take the pressure away from the bearing and help keep turbos spinning?

Yes I could blank it off for arrival but the police out there stop you a lot and check cars over, if they hear the air filter noise they will suspect I have a BOV and pull me and fine me for having a vent to air BOV.

Yes she is coming to OZ planed for next August.

If you can fit a short hose onto the outlet of the BOV then you could buy a small filter for the end. This is similar - noise wise - to what a recirc would give you as the recirc vents into the hose where the standard oil separator does, i.e. just downwind of the front air filter.

Also by changing to recirc I'm pretty sure you might need a remap to take account of the changes, although the ECU might learn this hopefully someone in the know will confirm...

When i lived in Aus plenty of cars had Dump Valves that vented to atmosphere

a recirculating valve puts hot air back into the intercooler, not fresh cold air

a dump valve is really there to stop a turbo stalling at high boost, none of the nobles came with them standard to my knowledge. High boost is pressure over 1.5 bar imho

I agree turbos are too small to get stalled by boost pressure we run and regardless you have to question if it faster to build up boost pressure from nothing into the entire system or to have the turbo slightly slow but have full pressure still?

Bump valves are fitted to large turbos as the higher stall pressures (due to size of the vanes and higher boost) could snap the shaft.

I took mine off my cossie running 25psi because lag was less without it even tho it had a much bigger turbo than the Noble.

Its interesting as I'm sure when I fitted my BOV I noticed the pic up between gear changes was much better?

Why could I not vent it into the air filter pipe and use the section where the old oil breather went. When changing gear the air would vent into the air filter line and escape out the filter before me flooring it again?

Does that mean you can't import a car then if it's been modified from original spec ? Or do mean you can't modify it once it's been imported ?

Once its imported any mods need to be approved by an engineer apparently? I assume if you want to be legal.

I'm fitting a charge cooler and making sure its done before i go, they don't know what is std on the car so I can blag it.

I used a Turbosmart adjustable dump valve and adapted it by taking two pipes to the inlet about 6 inches down stream of the filters, the do an off the shelf internal jobbie now.
