anyone got a gearbox

There are a lot of different MTX-75 gearboxes. The one originally fitted was Pt 1206944 (The Finis code) and 1232410 is compatible.
For reasons unbeknown to me, the latter part is obsolete and the former available from Ford on a 'back order' basis. No one in Ford would be prepared to commit to lead times... could be weeks, could be months.
If you can find a second hand, low mileage one in the classifieds, eBay etc, I'd recommend sending it to the gearbox man for a refurb and shot-peening before you reinstall it.
As also recommended, if you don't have an LSD already, you'd be as mad as a mad thing from madchester not to install one while the box is out.

Are the 6-speeds easier to come by? What's the implications of fitting a 6-speed/Quaife LSD to a GTO-3 that had a 5-speed installed?

Looked into it big time and in the end it unless you want to run mega power the 5 speed is fine . it was also going to cost alot when i did the math i could not get it under 4k .Are the 6-speeds easier to come by?
