Hello gents,
i am very very interested in an m12. can you please give me some info on the 2.5 please. i realy like to tune my motors. alot. & will be wanting to up the hp along with a fair few other things.
i would like to know
the std boost.
what pistons & rods are in the motor.
whats the max hp the turbo.s will make.
do.s the car run more than 1 cat.
how good is the std intercooler.
is the ecu easy to tune
will the later alloys fit the 2.5 car.
links to some pics of cars with the clams taken off.
some close up pics of the turbo.s & manifolds.
are the 3.0 turbo.s the same.
thanks in advance for any info ect. D

2. Standard Ford Duratech Pistons with slightly shortened Conrods to reduce Compression Ratio
3. Depends on what Turbos and what boost you want to run, if you want power over reliability
4. Yes - 2
5. Poor to middling - Pro Alloy is an available aftermarket substitute.
6. Depends what ECU is fitted. Earlier type Original ECU fitted to the 2.5 car. Unreliable and almost all seem to fail at some point. It's a new loom to fit the MBE ECU so costly. Can't be mapped.
MBE ECU - Retro fitted to some 2.5's and standard (?) on all cars from the 3.0 onwards. It's an OK ECU but lacks I/O. Reasonably reliable. It's located in the engine bay behind the driver on the upright near the firewall.
7. yes
8. Yes Garret T25s, although some have T28s fitted.

5. Poor to middling - Pro Alloy is an available aftermarket substitute. Or charge cooling can be used
6. Depends what ECU is fitted. Earlier type Original ECU fitted to the 2.5 car. Unreliable and almost all seem to fail at some point. It's a new loom to fit the MBE ECU so costly. Can't be mapped. After market ECU's can be fitted at a cost of around 2k

Also Obes got 400bhp from a rebuilt engine, mine is running 240bhp on std exhaust at 0.9bar, this may increaseby 10-20 when the charge cooler goes on over winter

the usa cars are all 3.0, have forged pistons so can be pushed harder
(however, the horses from across the pond are regarded as 15-20 higher than reality)
its the grearbox that is stopping big power - same box used here and across the pond
whats the weak point in the box? Can you fit stronger internals or a stronger case? is ther another gearbox that could be fitted instead (i know this would problaby cost a lot).(however, the horses from across the pond are regarded as 15-20 higher than reality)

Thanks for the info on the 2,5
on to the 3.0L motor
i see this also runs cast pistons. i have seen a few running 400 - 420 hp.
do you know the limits of this piston. before forged ones are needed. do you know other cars running more.
also i see the weight stated for the car is with a full tank of fuel is this true.
is the extra weight of the 3.0 motor a problem to the fine handling
thanks. D

Mine will be running more than that when its back together, (it was running more than that when it was dismantled) so we'll see just what the cast pistons are capable of?on to the 3.0L motor

As for weights, the next Noble RR day we run, I'll have a set of corner weight scales available and we'll get a good idea from that?
