what gearbox oil and grade to use?

i have just fitted my box back in, i have fitted quaife diff, what make and grade oil have you found to be the best option? silcoline?

have you had the gearbox rebuilt ? if so check where you had it done to see what they recommend . if not i will be using fully synthetic .

i rebuilt it myself with new quaife diff, uprated bearings and new seals plus 2nd gear syncro as was looking abit worn, i tryed to get hold of quaife to see what they recoment but they not open satadays

This is the correct grade of oil to use as quoted to me by the gearbox man, who said QUAIFE recommend to use it, when I picked up my gearbox. I have used the product above, cant go wrong with Motul and Silkolene products IMO

Hi Terry,

Nice to see you're still with us mate, especially after all your heartaches.

Probably won't see you until the Goodwood meet in Spring but if you're ever down our way let me and Kev know. We both quite happily take our little beauties out in the winter.

I dare not say out loud as there is no wood close by!

Overall I would have to say very pleasant. Found the battery flat the other day but plugged it into the battery conditioner for a couple of days and all is well again. I've had my mares already with five months off the road just after purchase (and an accident - oops) and then a further few weeks off the road trying to get an after market ECu to work last year.

Hopefully all will remain well for the near future - I daren't mention the distant future far too much could and probably will happen!
