i think my clutch may need doing soon so it will be best to do it as the same time...im guessing it is a direct replacement then. when u say there is a bar that can be removed do u mean cut and re welded?? thankyou i will def contact them

i beleive it was welded in after the chassis was made so cutting it out and rewelding makes no differece. (im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.)

Weld or bolt in... the choice is yours.
Here's some further info and if you fast forward to the end of the thread, Urbalizer has put some great detail in regarding the bolt in option.

Bolt in would be my choice as it means the job will be even quicker the next time you need to replace the clutch or work on the gearbox etc.

regarding rebolting option of cross member, i did mine by cutting cross member about 50mm from welds then get some solid insert made up for each end say 100mm long these need to have 2 holes drilled in them, use stainless steel.then get 2 sleeves made up also in s's. these need to be a snug fit to slip over ex size of tube, drill holes in these to match inserts, holes can then be drilled into cross member bar that has been cut and also stubs that remain, grease well before bolting up, you just need someone to machine some hollow s/s tube and solid inserts. hope this makes sense good luck steve

i cut the bar to get mine out, did it in under 3 hours and that included having the box to bits as well, if you havnt got a lsd you will soon have to change it as they are made from glass!! realy mr lee himself should be kicke up the ass for ever putting this box in!! mondeo suffer from the diff problems without the turbos!! in my eyes cutting the bar mad no change to the car and the welds that held it the bar in was shocking, i wil say cutting the bar is good, but dont have a swear box around when go have to get it out as it will cost you more than the car, all in all just over 6 hour to get box out and in, i got my diff from demon tweeks was 50 pound cheaper than quaife, tho i did spend a grand on my new race suit, so maybe thats why!!!
