with the car level, the oil should be just covering the top-most mark and all is well smile If it is higher than this then you have too much oil in which potentially could cause an issue with oil-seals.

You'll probably find you've been charged for 8.5L as that is the stated total capacity with TDS wink However in practice it is impossible to get every molecule of the old oil out of the engine/sump.Even after running the car (thinning the oil) and tilting it over towards the drain-plug, there'll always be some oil stuck in corners, sticking to surfaces etc.I change my oil and filter much more regularly than most because of the number of track days I do, and as I said I usually fill up with about 8L. I'm sure you're not too bothered about the price of 0.5L of oil, the important thing is that it has been filled to the correct level with the correct oil.

OK thanks. It's a little over "top" but I often find that after a dealer fill-up.

The oil filter can carry on soaking up oil, so 8.5 litre may be ok, i put 1/2 litre in my oil filter before fitting and it will probably soak up more after running for a while.
