Is this normal? Should I expect to have some big bills coming my way in the future?

consider a set of forged pistons whilst its apart if you want to go big power, you may regret not having done it whilst the engine is apart !

where do you find the time to do all this ?

Yep std rods are pretty good but if i was going to the expense of new pistons i would uprate the rods as well . i,m led to believe that the new pistons are a different shape and you need new rods anyway ,.

I've not managed to locate any off the shelf uprated pistion options, so unless someone knows otherwise and is aware of some with the correct volume, S/R Etc then I don't think there are any available?

As for Rods, yours should be Arrow rods and are capable of much more than they are doing in an OEM level car.

sounds like you need to find some low dish pistons and design a stroker crank so we can stick with the std rods Mike wink

Yeah, we already have a planned option for new pistons, we already know exactly what is needed and how they need to be. I'm gonna see what I can get out of the stock pistons first though, at least that way we can tell people what they will stand up to.

No signs of wear? Are you checking the bore dimensions with a bore gauge Simon? I'd also check the piston to bore clearances while that far in too?
